Boat review – Vamp 5.2

Self-confessed Seafarer tragic John Ford from Trade-a-Boat magazine was more than happy to take the Vamp 5.2 for a boat test to see just how it performed compared to other boats in the 5m class.

What John discovered was a boat that was both "great value and a great-allrounder". You can read John's full Vamp review here.

If you want to learn more about the Vamp 5.2, you can contact your nearest Seafarer Boats dealer for more info.

GTM wanted to put the same powerhead/prop to the test to see if the same speed would be achieved based on the power to weight ratio of each boat and motor. Which Seafarer will come out on top? Watch the video below to find out!

X marks the spot for Seafarer Boats with the release of the heavy duty X-series range

Iconic Australian fibreglass boat brand Seafarer and The Haines Group today unveiled a new range of heavy duty, performance driven boats to its line of legendary trailer boats with the launch of the x-tra strong and x-tra tough X-series.

Revolutionising its brand of state-of-the-art, quality fibreglass trailer boats, Seafarer has transformed a selection of its standard models and beefed them up with the works. Extra resin, stainless steel and almost 100kg of glass have been added to their structural design and their long range capabilities given a boost with an massive increase in fuel capacity.

Included in the special edition X-series range are the popular Victory 6.0 and Vagabond 6.2, which have been “overbuilt” to be the ultimate fishing vessels according to John Haines of The Haines Group.

“We created the X-series for the customer looking for something much more resilient and rigid than anything on the market currently,” said Mr Haines.

“These boats bring together a blend of toughness and high performance to deliver a boating experience like no other, for deep sea fishing enthusiasts who really want to test out their vessel in the toughest of conditions,” Mr Haines said.

Masterfully handcrafted in The Haines Group’s Wacol factory, the boats feature an impressive list of standard features with premium finishes and materials including stainless steel rails and steering wheel, heavy duty rod holders, live bait tanks and moulded seats including a tackle cupboard and hatch.

The Victory and Vagabond X-series have also been fitted with long range fuel tanks, giving the customer extra time on the water thanks to an enormous upgrade to 270L. Together with the high performance outboard fitted on the back (the Victory up to 225 max hp, the Vagabond available with twin configuration to give you a number of power options), you can confidently fish all day long with your mates or turn your day trip into a weekend expedition.

Seafarer boats have been made in Australia since 1957 and continue to be respected for their legendary build quality and smooth ride and the legacy continues with the new X-series range. With a build time of approximately 12 weeks, you can get your hands on your very own X-series in time for summer.

See the Victory and Vagabond X-series models for the first time at the JV Marine World stand at this year’s Melbourne Boat Show on from 17-20 June at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
